Orkney is an excellent place for wild flowers. The wide variety of habitats around Odin mean that there is a good selection of species within a short distance of the house. These range from farmland, wetlands, marshes, heather moorland, maritime heath and lochs to seashore and salt marsh.

The unique Primula scotica can be seen at Yesnaby, along with a wide selection of other plants which are adapted to such exposed situations
